The Selous Game Reserve (now named Nyerere National Park), covering 50 000 square km, is among the largest protected areas in Africa and is relatively undisturbed by humans. As a result, Nyerere National Park is rich in wildlife, such as elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, lions, and many other species. The park also has a wide variety of habitats, including miombo woodlands. Enjoy a game drive and boat safari at the parks, enjoy a game drive and boat safari at the park.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fly from Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park

We will pick you up in the morning at your hotel in Zanzibar and transfer you to the Zanzibar Airport. Then, you will catch your flight which departs at 6:00 am and arrive at Mtemere airstrip at 6:30 am. Finally, our driver/guide will pick you up from the airport with a lunch box followed by a game drive until the afternoon.

Later in the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour boat trip on the Rufiji River, where you will spot hippos, crocodiles, and birds.

Day 2: Explore Nyerere National Park

After breakfast, we will leave the camp with packed lunches to enjoy a game drive in the Nyerere National Park. You can expect to see large numbers of animals like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffalos, zebras, and hyenas. You will also see a large variety of birds and wonderful scenery with varied topography, including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forests, and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. You will enjoy your lunch and rest in the afternoon before proceeding with the game drive.

Day 3: Fly from Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar

You will leave for an early morning walking safari in the forest accompanied by a guide. Here you will meet Bushmen and experience various activities before you return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, you will prepare for your return to Zanzibar. In Zanzibar, we will drop you off at your hotel.

The flight from Nyerere airstrip departs at 4:00 pm and arrives at 4:30 pm at Zanzibar Airport.
