Tour Overview

Safari in Nyerere National Park and Mikumi National Park is probably the most classic safari in the southern Circuit of Tanzania. You will be picked up from your hotel/lodge at Dar es Salaam early in the morning of this day around 05:00 AM and start a safari to Mikumi National Park. Nyerere NP has over 350 bird species and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment, Mikumi NP is also the best experience.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Dar es salaam to Mikumi national park

Depart very early in the morning at 05:00 AM from Dar es Salaam via Morogoro and Chalinze with picnic lunch on your way then continue with drive to Mikumi NP for 5 or 6 hours. On arrival check in and then advance with full day game drive, game viewing at Mikumi national takes you to the beautiful species of animals and birds. Due to its Savannah plain animals at Mikumi NP are easily accessed and it’ll take you 4 to 5 hours to finish a game in Mikumi national park; accommodation will be at Bastian camp.

Day 2: Maasai Tour then Long drive to Nyerere National Park

After early morning breakfast, visit the traditional Maasai tribe at Mikumi National Park to 08:40 AM then drive to Nyerere National Park, you will have picnic lunch on the way and it takes 7 to 8 hours’ drive to this great Park in Tanzania. Enjoy the view of most unexplored and untouched areas in Tanzania, then dinner and overnight at African safari camp.

Day 3: Game drive in Nyerere National Park + Amazing boat tour

The day will be spent on game viewing in the Game Reserve soon after breakfast and a boat safari for 2 to 3 hours in the evening. The safari guide will point to you rare species of animals like the Wild Dogs, Sable antelopes, and black rhinoceros. Boat Safaris are also the best excursions for bird enthusiast. The Selous has over 350 bird species, and the river is the place where they congregate in great numbers and are easily seen in the open environment. Picnic lunch and drinks will be served in the wilderness before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight to the gentle grunting of the Camp.

Day 4 : Bush Walk safari then drive to Dar es Salaam

You’ll have early morning breakfast at the camp and start a sunrise bush walk with armed bushman. Walking safari is a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long and usually the walk leaves the camp at 6:00AM-6:30 AM. After walking back to the camp for breakfast and start your way to Dar es Salaam.

The game drive through the northern circuit with our guide and driver Ben was an unique and unforgettable experience. He showed us animals and plants we would have never seen on our own - he brought us at the right time to the right places. My favorites were the hippos in the Serengeti! The beachholiday and all excursions at Zanzibar organised Agness with her local guides to our fullest contentedness. I loved most the breathtaking boatride to Mnemba-Island and our picnic on a sandbank in the ocean. Important to us were also the cultural and historical sites like the "cultural heritage center/african art gallery" and the "national natural history museum" at Arusha. All campsites and lodges chosen by Aggrey and his company were very comfortable, clean and the staff was friendly and competent.
